According to Kent Online, the club received more than 50 applications and started interviewing yesterday (Wednesday 5th September).
It comes as Stones bid to find their replacement for club favourite Jay Saunders, who enjoyed a highly successful time at the helm. There was plenty of surprise in the game when Saunders’ departure was announced by the club late last month.
His former assistant Steve Watt has been in caretaker charge and will remain so for Saturday’s Vanarama National League trip to Salford City. The ex-Chelsea player and Margate manager is said to be under consideration for the job on a permanent basis, though he recently said he did not feel it was right for him to apply, given the circumstances.
Watt did however say he would be honoured to take the role.
