Seth Nana Twumasi marked his birthday by putting pen to paper on a Maidstone United deal for the 2018/19 season.

The popular right-back, who’s made more than 70 appearances since signing in September 2016, turned down interest from other clubs to move into his third season at the Gallagher.

Jay Saunders said: “This was one of those easy deals to get done. I wanted him to stay and he wanted to be here next season.

“Seth’s a pleasure to have around the place. He’s one of those players who gives his all week in, week out and I am delighted to get him signed up for another season.”

Twumasi, who was born in Ghana, moved to England when he was 11 and within months of doing so was picked up by Chelsea, spending eight years at Stamford Bridge. His connections to Ghana remain as strong as ever and he is a director of a football academy in Accra, which gets talented youngsters off the streets and into football clubs.
