Maidstone United have announced that defender Alex Finney will be back next season.
The manager’s and supporters’ Player of the Season was at the Gallagher on Monday to agree terms on a two-year deal with the club.
Finney became an immediate fans’ favourite after joining on loan from Queens Park Rangers on the eve of last season and made more than 30 appearances for the Stones. Several clubs had expressed interest in signing the 22-year-old but he’s back at a place he describes as having ‘a special place in my heart.’
The centre-half began his career with fellow National League side Leyton Orient. In 2014 Bolton brought him to their academy.
He made his debut for the Whites and was consistently on the verge of the first team, making three appearances before being released so they could accommodate another signing. He then signed for QPR and was a regular for the Under-23s the season before last.
