King’s Lynn Town have this morning announced the signings of former Norwich City duo Simon Lappin and Grant Holt.
The vastly experienced pair were unveiled at a press conference at The Walks alongside chairman Stephen Cleeve.
Now 36, Holt was a pivotal part of Norwich’s return to the Premier League in 2011 and was tipped by some for a place in England’s Euro 2012 squad after netting 15 league goals in his debut top-flight season.
He also enjoyed goal-laden spells with Nottingham Forest, Shrewsbury Town and Rochdale, returning to the latter on loan from Wigan Athletic in 2016. The robust frontman also counts Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa, Huddersfield Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers amongst his former employers.
A former Scotland Under-21, defender Lappin spent six years with the Canaries after starting out with St Mirren. He left the club after their second season back in the Premier League (2012/13), spending time with Cardiff City, Sheffield United (loan), St. Johnstone and York City.
Along with Holt, the 34-year-old joins up with a King’s Lynn side currently 4th in the Evo-Stik South Premier League.
