Matt Fusco is ready to spring back into action as Malvern Town look ahead to their scheduled April action.

A Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup tie against Newent Town on Tuesday April 13th will be followed by a Buildbase FA Vase fourth round tie at Congleton Town on Saturday April 17th. Unfortunately, current COVID regulations mean that both games will have to be played behind closed doors.

“The shorter, darker days of winter has made this lockdown tougher than the previous one,” admitted Fusco. “Everyone has been patiently waiting for spring to start, and with it, various restrictions being gradually lifted.

“We’ve been following the club’s training programme over the past few months and the gaffers have given us more specific stuff to do over the last couple of weeks so that we are ready to return to training shortly. I am buzzing now to get back at it and play some football; I can’t wait to see the lads and be part of it all again.

“The FA Vase tie is obviously one that we are particularly excited about. We’ve proved over the past couple of years that we can compete against opponents from the level above, and if we apply ourselves correctly, there is no reason why we can’t do the same at Congleton.

“We see it as a great opportunity for the team and everyone involved with the club to make an impact in a national competition. Hopefully we can give the fans something to cheer about to reward them for everything that has happened over the past 12 months.

“It’s a great shame that they won’t be able to attend, because they give us tremendous backing and it makes such a difference, but we will be going all out to do the business for them.”
