Director of football Angelo Harrop has received more than a dozen applications for the manager’s job at Stanway Rovers, report the Daily Gazette / Essex County Standard.
The club are looking for a new boss after parting company with Terry Spillane last Thursday.
Danny Slatter is taking over until the end of the season and has already indicated he wants the role full-time.
But he is one of around 15 applicants interested in the challenge of leading Rovers out of the Essex Senior League – step five of the non-league pyramid – into the Bostik League.
Harrop has confirmed no decision will be made until the end of this season but admits it could be a tough choice, given the level of interest so far.
“There have already been lots of applicants and my phone has been ringing non-stop since the news broke about Terry,” he told the Gazette.
“I’d say I’ve had around 15 different conversations with managers doing well in our league, at a higher level and in the Thurlow Nunn League.”
