Forest Green Rovers youngster Olly Mehew has joined Southern League South & West Division side Mangotsfield United on a one-month loan deal.

The 18 year old, who moved to Forest Green in the summer from Bristol Rovers, will link up with the Cossham Street outfit where his father Dave, a former FGR player, is manager.

Mehew has made an impressive start to life at The New Lawn – scoring in pre-season friendlies against Cardiff City and Bishop’s Cleeve.

He’ll now link up with Mangoes for their Southern League South & West Division campaign to help offer him first team and senior experience.

He had a brief loan stint with Mangotsfield last season while still a Bristol Rovers player, and he also spent time on loan at that level with Shortwood United.

Forest Green have given the young forward permission to play in the FA Cup. Mehew is therefore in line to appear in Mangotsfield’s preliminary round tie with AFC Portchester.
