With the end of the season looming, Mangotsfield United boss David Mehew has signed two new keepers as emergency cover only.
The first new signing is Mike Green and many will already be familiar with him.
Behind the scenes he has been helping us as goalkeeper coach for the last few weeks.
The second signing is Shaun Semmens who currently plays for the Cornish team Godolphin Atlantic FC.
Mehew told the club website “Shaun has moved to the area, but has committed to Godolphin until the end of the season and has family ties to the club. That suits both us and his current club, and in turn, we can help Shaun find a club around here.
But we have retained his services as back up to Kyle who we’re very pleased with since he joined the club. Shaun showed up well in training and I’d have no hesitation in putting him in should the situation arise. I know Mike very well. He really isn’t interested in playing at the moment since having two new born twins.
But as a favour to me he will sign on for any major problems. With Paulton Rovers taking Hartpury student Andy Hannah off us, I had to act and am pleased with the outcome. We have also retained the registration of Ashley Newman as he showed up well in the Marlow FA Trophy game. Keepers are the hardest to acquire as we all know, so we now have plenty of cover as we enter the final third of the season.”
