Matlock Town have added forward Nyle Blake to their ranks ahead of Saturday’s home derby with Mickleover Sports.

Having progressed through the Stags’ academy, 20-year-old Blake signed professional forms in May 2018, being part of the Mansfield youth team which won the EFL Youth Alliance North East title. Since then, he has played just one first-team game, but it was a memorable one for him as he scored in a 3-2 home victory over Scunthorpe United in the EFL Trophy.

Blake had a loan spell at Alfreton Town earlier this season and now Matlock boss Dave Frecklington is delighted to have added him to the Gladiators’ ranks.

“He’s got pace and can play off the shoulder of the last defender and that’s something we’ve missed. We’re delighted to have him on board and he should definitely add to our options going forward.”

Blake is also versatile, having played as a wing-back in the Stags’ 2018/19 pre season fixtures.
