Margate’s proposed redevelopment of Hartsdown Park has been given planning permission, subject to Secretary of State approval.
The club submitted a planning application last summer, with a proposal that includes plans for a 120-bedroom hotel.
Approval was given for the plans following a TDC (Thanet District Council) Planning Committee meeting yesterday.
The Isthmian Premier Division club’s application is in conjunction with their hotel partner IHG Hotels and Holiday Inn Express.
The two main elements of the proposal are the East Stand and the North Stand, with the East where the hotel will be situated, along with restaurant and bar facilities.
The building will also include space for Margate FC offices and a club shop, as well as the stadium control room. The stand will be all-seater and have a capacity of 650.
The North Stand will be a terrace with a 1,300 capacity, with space for home and away changing facilities, and ancillary spaces associated with the first team. The ground floor will also include several studio-type spaces for various sports and associated activities.
The first floor will feature a café and bar facility overlooking the pitch. In addition, the car park will be extended to provide 104 parking spaces.
