Margate have announced the signings of Chris Barnard and Kofi Boateng.
Youngster Barnard joins on a dual registration from National League side Dover Athletic. The midfielder has played twice for The Whites and following some impressive displays for The Gate during pre-season, reunites with joint-manager Mike Sandmann, who previously coached Barnard at Dover FC’s Academy.
Sandmann expressed his delight with the latest addition to the Margate squad:
“I’m really looking forward to working with Chris again. He’s another young player who has shown great promise which has merited a deal with a club like Dover.
“I think we can offer him a really exciting opportunity to gain experience, improve upon his game and he has every chance to become an influential part of the squad.”
The club also confirm Kofi Boateng has put pen to paper on a deal for the 2018/19 campaign. Boateng was part of Norwich City’s Academy set up at Under-18s level and Sandmann hopes Hartsdown Park will provide a good platform for the youngster.
“In a similar vein to Chris, Kofi is a very talented, young footballer. He possesses plenty of natural talent and skill.”
“He’s strong, athletic and with some more minutes and first team training under his belt, will be sharp and ready to offer something different to our midfield options.”
