Marine have signed Sam Barnes, who joins on work experience from Blackburn Rovers, and Will Dunne, who joins from Skelmersdale United.
Rovers youngster Barnes has made a short-term move to Marine FC. The 17-year-old defender, who captained Rovers’ Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup at Ewood Park earlier this season, joins the Evo-Stik Premier Division side on an initial 28-day period of work experience until February 12th.
Dunne joins from Skelmersdale United after progressing through the youth set up at Blackpool.
Marine manager Neil Young said: “Sam is a young player who is very highly thought of at Blackburn. We have for a number of months now been looking for a young athletic CB to go with Chris Doyle and Danny Shaw and Sam fits that bill and we are really looking forward to working with him over his loan period.
“Will is someone we have been keeping a close eye on since we came in back in September and I believe it’s a good time now to bring him to the club and be part of the squad. He fits the profile of what we are trying to do on the recruitment side of things and he is very ambitious and really wants to do well.”
Sam Barnes said: “I’m delighted to be forwarding my development with a placement at Marine. It’s foundations are in it’s community and fans just like at Blackburn so when I was suggested for this opportunity to play for them I jumped at the chance. I’m looking forward to starting with Neil and the lads to help maintain the recent good run.”
Will Dunne added: “Happy to have joined Marine, I am looking forward to getting started and showing the fans, staff and players what I am capable of.”
