It could be a busy week for Grimsby Town boss Paul Hurst with the January transfer window set to close in just over seven days time.
The Town boss has made no secret of the fact that he would like to bring in another frontman, and a wide player – if Jack Mackreth was to move on.
He said: “I’ve spoken before about wanting that other option up front, but I also want a wide player. If Jack (Mackreth) was to go, we’ve got to be in the right position squad-wise.
“We’ve worked extremely hard to get to where we are and we’ve got to stay in the mix and remain strong.
“That’s the other area that I’ve been looking at and I am still looking to strengthen.”
He continued: “It’ll be hard to find ‘another Jon Nolan’ in the fact that he’s someone I really liked and he was free – they’re not always that simple.
“It’d be great if the others I’m looking for were as straight-forward, but we’ll have to wait and see. Make no bones about it though, of course I’m still looking to strengthen.”
Hurst will monitor Gregor Robertson’s fitness after he hobbled out of Saturday’s win against Altrincham and, with Danny East also missing The Robins’ game with a foot injury, he might have to bring in some defensive cover too.
He said: “I’ve got to monitor Gregor, Easty and Shaun. That’s three defenders and we could arguably be down to our last three defenders. There’s young Josh Sunter but I don’t think he’s quite ready. That is certainly an area of concern.”
