Grimsby Town have announced that striker Pat Hoban has joined on loan from League Two side Oxford United until the end of the season.

The 24-year old, who has recently spent time on loan at League Two side Stevenage FC, was top scorer in the Irish Premier League for two seasons before joining Oxford from Dundalk.

Hoban started out at Irish non-League sides Lakeside Celtic and Ballinasloe Town, before he joined Mervue United, who he helped to win promotion from the A Championship to the League of Ireland.

He signed for Oxford in 2014, having turned down the chance to play on trial at Scottish Premier League club Kilmarnock.
