Mark Yates has left his role as Kidderminster Harriers manager, with James O’Connor stepping up to take over.

Former Cheltenham Town manager Yates was appointed at the end of January on an agreement until the end of the season. With Harriers five points back from the play-off places in the Vanarama National League North with two games to go, it has been decided that Yates will depart now.

The club say that chairman Colin Gordon met with Yates today to discuss matters, with the former Crawley Town and Macclesfield Town gaffer no longer considered for the position on a long-term basis. Harriers defender James O’Connor has taken on the role for the final two games.

Yates had managed Kidderminster at the start of his managerial career, from 2006 to 2009, having played for the club over 250 times.
