Revered Sky Sports commentator and Woking assistant manager Martin Tyler reckons “football needs us to be sympathetic to the difficulties faced by those having to make the decisions” as the UK completes a second week of lockdown because of the Covid-19 crisis.

But the 74-year-old – who is adhering to government guidelines having not left his home in Oxshott since Monday last week – also believes that if leagues are being called to a halt, as they have so far at non-league’s Step 3-7, the records should be allowed to remain, not simply wiped from existence as null and void.
