Evo-Stik Southern League club Merthyr Town have signed Jack Compton on loan from Newport County.

The former Hartlepool United and Falkirk player will spend the rest of the season with the Martyrs.compton

Compton began his career at West Bromwich Albion’s academy and has had spells with the likes of Bradford City and Yeovil Town.

He joined Newport County at the start of the season and has made thirteen appearances for the Exiles, scoring one goal.

Martyrs Manager Gavin Williams revealed his delight at signing a player that he holds in high regard.

Speaking to the Martyrs website he said “I am delighted to be able to add a player of Jack’s quality to the squad at this stage of the season.  I would like to thank Newport County for agreeing the loan deal with us, and I would also like to thank the Merthyr directors for their continued support.

He will be a great addition as we move into a crucial stage of the season.”

Compton could made in debut for the club on Saturday when they head to Slough Town.
