Matlock Town have named former Buxton boss Paul Phillips as their new manager.

Phillips saw his Bucks side win 6-0 at Matlock at the back-end of last season, as the Silverlands outfit went on to make the Evo-Stik Premier play-offs. The former Ashton United and Glossop North End joint-manager has been assisting Dave Wild at Mossley, and reflected on his Buxton tenure on Non-League Daily recently.

Matlock chairman Tom Wright told the club’s website: “We spoke to some really good candidates but we were all very impressed with Paul, who came across extremely well, showing great enthusiasm for the job and the club, and we feel with his past record and vast experience of this division, he was the best man for the job.”
