Lois Maynard returned to the starting XI on Tuesday evening and marked that return with a goal against Forest Green Rovers.

After an enforced absence due to international duty with St Kitts & Nevis, Maynard says that all the players know they have to work hard to get into the team and, more importantly, retain their place.

He told Tranmere PlayerHD: “The manager has reiterated that everybody has a part to play so when you get a chance, you have to take it with both hands and that keeps everyone going.

“The travelling to St Kitts does take it out of you but there’s no time to dwell on it, you just have to get on with it.

“Things are going well for us. Since the manager came in, we’ve been working on different ideas and I think it’s working well.

“The standards which have been set by the staff and the players doesn’t allow you to take your foot off the gas so it’s always full on from day to day.”
