EBAC Northern League club North Shields have Jon McDonald as their new manager.
McDonald joins the club from league rivals West Allotment Celtic and takes over a team currently sat at the top of the Northern League table.
He joins the club following the departure of Graham Fenton, who moved to South Shields last week.
McDonald ended his tenure at West Allotment Celtic with a 2-0 win at Jarrow Roofing on Tuesday night and will be in the Robins dugout for their Northern League game at Sunderland RCA on Saturday.
North Shields announced the news on their website on Tuesday night, following their impressive win at Consett.
The statement in full read “The club is pleased to announce that Jon McDonald has been appointed as team manager with effect from today. Jon joins the club from West Allotment Celtic.
Jon comes with a wealth of Northern League experience having spent a number of years at Morpeth Town, Bedlington Terriers and West Allotment Celtic and is held in high regard by many within Northern League”
Assistant manager Andy Bowman, a key part in the Robins recent resurgance, confirmed on Tuesday night that he has resigned from his position at the club.
Bowman has been part of the coaching staff at the club and oversaw their promotion to the Northern League’s top tier, their Northumberland Senior Cup win and their historic FA Vase win against Glossop North End in 2015.
The club also revealed that winger Denver Morris is joining Seaham Red Star on a four week loan, but confirmed that the move is to enable him to gain match fitness before returning to the North Tyneside club at the end of his loan spell.
