Rory McKeown has put pen-to-paper after agreeing terms with Southport and will be available for the New Year`s Day fixture against Wrexham.
McKeown had joined Accrington Stanley this summer and most recently he has been out on loan with Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division side Warrington Town.
McKeown has been a regular in the Northern Ireland squads from junior and youth up to senior levels.
McKeown can play as a full-back, wing-back or winger, giving the Sandgrounders squad added options.
The highly versatile McKeown started his career as a youth team player for Ipswich Town. He developed at Portman Road in the Ipswich under-18s and reserve teams before he was released in June 2011.
McKeown has gained a great deal of experience in Scotland.
Following his release by Ipswich, McKeown signed for Kilmarnock and made an immediate impact, scoring on his competitive debut against Dundee United at Tannadice Park.
In February 2014, McKeown joined Scottish Championship side Cowdenbeath on a one-month emergency loan. On his debut for the club he scored after 33 minutes in a 2–0 win against Dundee.
Having made six appearance and scoring once, McKeown’s loan spell with Cowdenbeath was extended until the end of the 2013/14 season.
In the summer of 2014, McKeown joined Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers before signing for Accrington last summer.
