Following discussions between player and management, Danny McLaughlin has decided this week to leave West Didsbury & Chorlton as he looks to find regular first-team football elsewhere.

Having impressed during pre-season, he was one of the players retained by Brad Cooke as he reshaped his squad over the summer. However, with the addition of a number of other players, and West’s form being impressive through the opening weeks of the campaign, McLaughlin found his game time limited mainly to substitute appearances.

Over the course of his time with West, the club say he ‘won the hearts of many fans thanks to his tireless running and selfless performances as part of our forward line.’ Joining initially on dual registration from Mossley towards the back end of 2018, he went on to make 20 appearances and score three goals, the majority of those coming last season, when he was one of the few bright sparks in an otherwise disappointing campaign.
