AFC Telford United have announced the signing of former Kidderminster Harriers midfielder James McQuilkin.

The lively attacking midfielder joins the Bucks having enjoyed an impressive spell at Kidderminster Harriers for the past three seasons, playing over one hundred games.

McQuilkin also has Football League and Non-League experience with the likes of Hereford United, Torquay United and Walsall and was voted Kidderminster Harrier Supporters’ Player of the Season for 2016/17.

Manager Gavin Cowan was delighted with his latest addition to the squad:

“James is a player who is highly regarded in this league, having been a star performer at Kidderminster, making the Team of the Year last year and playing a huge part in their close success the season just gone. He is a real coup for the football club and optimises how I want us to play next seaso – high energy, quality in possession, intelligence, and a desire to achieve.

“His availability came as somewhat of a surprise, but we were able to act quickly to get him signed and over the line. It’s another player who desperately wants to be part of what me and my staff want to achieve and it’s desire that will see us be competitive.”

McQuilkin said: “I am absolutely delighted to have joined AFC Telford United. I have played at this fantastic stadium on many occasions as an opposition player and I am looking forward to playing in a home shirt in front of the fans.”
