Kris Holt has made a return to Runcorn Linnets from Atherton Collieries.

The midfielder left the club last summer to sign for his former Colls counterpart Brad Cooke at West Didsbury & Chorlton. With Cooke named Atherton boss in December, Holt joined him and assistant Rob Sadler, another returning former Colls man.

Sadler told the club’s website: “It was a difficult decision, but the right one for both parties. Those conversations aren’t enjoyable with someone I have an awful lot of time for.

“Krissy’s game time has been limited but you need lads you can rely on and trust when you step into a role, and that’s why it was a no-brainer to bring him with us. He would argue he hasn’t been given enough opportunities which is a fair comment but he needs to play and enjoy his football, and with the current squad, we couldn’t guarantee him that.”
