Midfielder Greg Olley has agreed a new one-year deal at Gateshead, subject to National League and FA ratification.
The 23-year-old was a standout performer for the Heed in the National League last season, scoring seven goals in 38 league appearances from midfield. Prior to arriving at the International Stadium, Olley began his career in the youth setup at Newcastle United and appeared for the club’s under-23 side.
A move to Hull City followed, where the Durham-born midfielder made two Carabao Cup appearances across two seasons at the KCOM Stadium.
He spoke to gateshead-fc.com after signing on for another season, saying: “It’s been a long time coming.
“Ever since we split up last season it’s been a long process, but I’m really glad we’ve finally got it done. Mike and Busted have been on the phone quite a lot, I’ve got a lot of respect for them both and they’ll go a very long way.
“It’s got to be a rebuilding year again, it’s in pretty similar circumstances to last year but hopefully we could go one step better than and get promoted this time. We’ve got a good squad coming together and there’s a lot of promise to where we want to finish.
“I just want play as well, or hopefully better than last year. It was my first year in senior football and I think I learned quite a lot from being in and around some good players so hopefully I can kick on and improve.”
