Guiseley AFC have signed experienced midfielder Simon Walton.

Originally with Leeds United, Walton went on to play thirty-four games for the Whites, waltonscoring 3 goals before joining then Premier League Charlton Athletic for a £500,000 fee in the summer of 2006.

However, he never made a senior appearance for the Valiants, although he did have successful loan spells with Ipswich Town and Cardiff City.

A year later he moved to Queens Park Rangers for £200,000 but broke his leg shortly after arriving at Loftus Road.

Following a loan stint at Hull City, Walton moved to Plymouth Argyle in August 2008 and went on to play sixty-one times, scoring 9 goals and also spent time on loan with Blackpool, Crewe Alexandra and Sheffield United.

In the summer of 2012 he returned north to join Hartlepool and made seventy-three appearances and then had spells with Stevenage and Crawley Town, adding a further sixty-six games to his tally before being released at the end of last season.

The now 28-year-old former England under-16, under-17 and under-19 international signed for his local side, Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division outfit Garforth Town where the 6`1” Walton`s experience would be a massive benefit to Rob Hunter’s side.
