Wrexham manager Gary Mills was certainly not shying away from the teams’ performance at Nethermoor Park.
“The first 20 minutes were absolutely horrendous,” he said.
“Conceding three goals in 20 minutes in a game you have to win, to leave yourself needing to score four times, is the biggest uphill task you can ask.
“Everyone in that dressing room, including myself, has to take full responsibility for what has happened tonight.
“But it’s more than just tonight, it’s about the whole season, and when we needed to get a couple of results we have come up short.
“We wanted to give ourselves a fighting chance and that hasn’t happened.
“You can’t expect to get promoted out of this league with performances like that or losing 15 games across a season.
“We have to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, who will be on fire, and we have to show we have the mentality to beat them.
“We need not only a result, but also a performance that outweighs what we saw tonight.”
