York City have completed the loan signing of attacker Jake Charles from Championship side Barnsley.

The 20-year-old has signed a deal with the Minstermen until the beginning of January 2017 and could make his debut in tomorrow’s fixture at Bromley.

Jake, grandson of Wales legend John Charles, began his career with Garforth Villa’s Academy before joining Huddersfield Town at under-11 level.

After progressing through the youth set-up at the Terriers, the 6ft attacker signed his first professional contract in 2013, which was later extended until 2017.

Following impressive performances for Town’s under-21s side in the 2014/15 campaign, Charles was handed his senior debut at the end of season as a late substitute against Fulham.

To aid his development, the Wales under-21 international made the switch to York`s league rivas Guiseley AFC last season before signing for Barnsley on 1st September 2016 for an undisclosed fee.
