York City have this afternoon completed the signing of Blackpool goalkeeper Kyle Letheren.
The 28-year-old will go straight into Jackie McNamara’s squad for the Minstermen’s home game against Woking on Saturday.
The 6ft 2in shot-stopper began his career with Swansea City in 2003 before taking in spells with Newport County AFC, Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Plymouth Argyle.
In 2010 he made the move north to Scotland after signing for Scottish Premier League outfit Kilmarnock. Over the course of the next three seasons however, the former Wales Under-21 international only made a handful of appearances at Rugby Park before departing.
Upon his release, Letheren switched to Dundee and enjoyed the most successful spell of his career to date when, as first-choice keeper for the 2013/14 campaign, he helped The Dark Blues claim the Scottish Championship title on the final game of the season.
The keeper then went on to play his part as the Dens Park outfit retained its top flight status the following season, before he departed Dundee last summer after making at total of 56 appearances.
On 1st July 2015 Letheren signed for then League One outfit Blackpool on a two-year deal and made a total of eight appearances for the Tangerines last season.
