Mike Carter has been appointed as Gosport Borough’s 75th anniversary club captain.

With the new playing and backroom team reporting back for pre season training this week, manager Lee Molyneaux has wasted no time in appointing his captain for the coming campaign.

Speaking to the club’s website, Molyneaux gave his reasons for choosing Carter:

“With our recruitment this off-season we’ve created a squad of players that will be accountable for their actions both on and off the pitch, so it goes without saying that there’s a few that I could have chosen from to captain the team this season.

“However, I have given the honour to ‘Carts’ this season because of his admirable capability to adapt to situations, knowing when the to emphasise grit, determination and passion but also realising we should enjoy football.”
