Luke Molyneux has admitted he can’t wait to get his teeth stuck in to the National League after he completed the paperwork on a permanent deal with Hartlepool United.

Outsiders questioned whether Pools would be able to lure the 21-year-old back to The Super 6 Stadium following his eye-catching spell on loan from Sunderland last season.

However, Pools boss Craig Hignett moved quickly once the talented Molyneux was released from The Stadium of Light and held off competition from other clubs to secure his signature.

“It’s been a while coming but I’ve been looking forward to coming back so now it’s all done I am just looking forward to kicking on and meeting the lads again,” Molyneux told Pools PlayerHD.

“The gaffer has been a big influence on me. He understands me as a player so that makes things a whole lot easier, I think.

“I’m definitely excited to come back and kick on from where I left off and I just want to try and help us get back to where we should be, back in the League.

“I enjoyed it a lot last season, I was playing quite a bit and obviously the fans were helping in that so I can’t wait to get started.”
