Spennymoor Town have continued to strengthen the squad ahead of the new Evo-Stik Northern Premier League season season by signing impressive goalkeeper Andrew Rafferty.
The 6 ft 6 in stopper has joined from Vanarama National League side Dover Athletic and has previously spent spells with Hartlepool United and Guisborough Town.
Andrew trained with his new team mates for the first time on Thursday night and will relocate to the North East to join Moors’ debut campaign in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Manager Jason Ainsley has spoken of his delight with the club’s transfer business so far.
He said: “We’re thrilled to have signed Andrew on a two year deal.
“He was looking to relocate back to the North East and as soon as I heard this it was important that I showed an interest in him.
“Andy is a massive presence at 6 ft 6 in and, having played more than 50 Conference games, gives us the experience that we’ll need going into a tough season.
“With Dan Lowson and now Andy, we have two exceptional goalkeepers who I believe will bring each other’s game on tremendously and I look forward to working with him over the next two seasons.”
Andrew has echoed the sentiments of Moors’ other summer signings in his first interview since joining. He said: “I’m delighted to be a part of such an ambitious club.
“After hearing what the Chairman and Manager had to say and seeing the facilities it was an easy decision. I can’t wait to get started.”
