Andy Morrell expects to have a new striker in his starting line-up when Tamworth host Warrington Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
The Lambs lost top goalscorer Reece Styche to National League North rivals Darlington this week.
But negotiations are at an advanced stage with his replacement.
A deal has been agreed with a club, the striker has thrashed out terms and he should be unveiled by Friday.
“He is someone who can play as a centre forward or winger,” Morrell said.
“He has played down the middle in this league and got success from that.”
“He’s quick, makes good runs and he’s a nuisance, a pest. He will suit us down to the ground with the way we play.
“He’s only 21 as well so he’s young and hungry. He’ll be a great addition to our squad.
“Hopefully, it’s a done deal and he comes straight into the squad.”
