Popular central defender Michael Thomas has re-signed for Mossley after an 18-month absence due to work commitments.

Having graduated through Macclesfield Town’s academy to make his first team debut in 2009, in October 2010 he joined Mossley on loan. He made 28 appearances and scored two goals.

Upon returning to Macclesfield, he joined Leek Town on the eve of the 2011/12 season. He was recalled to Macclesfield’s first team in the 2011/12 season and made ten appearances before the season’s close.

In May 2012 following Macclesfield’s relegation to the Conference, Thomas was released at the expiry of his contract. He joined Colwyn Bay before he moved back to Leek Town in October 2012.

Thomas then joined Northwich Victoria in 2013 before re-signing for Mossley in September 2015, via a short spell playing for Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads in the Cheshire League.

He made 35 appearances for Mossley scoring a further two goals in the 2015/16 season before departing Seel Park to work in the Netherlands in April 2016.
