Gary Dean has resigned as chairman and director of Mossley.

Dean became chairman of the Lilywhites last November, with Chris Hey stepping up from sponsor to club president and Phil Ramsden also joining the board.

Dean has detailed the reasons behind his departure: “My time at Mossley has been a great adventure and I have discovered how such organisations work, how absolutely critical volunteers are and received insights into FA governance, which has been entertaining to say the least.

“However, my business interests and other commitments have also increased considerably during this time and, as my company looks to expand internationally next year, it’s not possible to devote the time needed. The club needs more, I want it to achieve more and I don’t want it to be held back.

“I hope that I have been able to contribute positively to the progress of the club. A lot has happened in a short space of time and more changes are required by the new, talented and strong board that we have built recently.

“The squad that Dave Wild and his team are building signals great things for future success on the pitch too. I am proud to be able to say we introduced girls’ and women’s teams and an U21 team.

“We’ve also strengthened our youth set up and our attendances have increased. Long may it continue. A special mention goes out to Chris Hey, our club president.

“He is a true Lilywhite to his core. As a VIP Season Ticket holder I will still be showing my face at games as much as I can.

“Up the Lilywhites.”
