Jay Saunders, manager of Vanarama National League new boys Maidstone United, has secured the services of Tom Murphy for the 2016/17 season.

The 24-year-old, who can play up front or on the wing, was a free agent after leaving new league rivals Dover Athletic last month.

He had been with the Whites since August 2013 and scored 25 league goals during his time there. His 2015/16 campaign was hampered by a hamstring injury he sustained in only the second game of the season.

Murphy began his career at Gillingham, before gaining non-League experience with Lewes, Thurrock, Farnborough, Horsham and Margate.
