Curzon Ashton chairman Wayne Salkeld has spoken about the forthcoming financial support package for the club.

In a club statement from the National League North side, Salkeld said: “The club very much welcome today’s announcement from the National League regarding the support package available whilst we continue to play football behind closed doors. Without this support, it is likely that there would have been serious questions as to how we would survive going in to 2021.

“Although we still have an awful lot of work to do, we see this as reward for the dedication, hard work and support from directors, staff, volunteers and supporters in helping to ensure that they still have a National League North side to get behind when we can finally reopen our doors. We are a club that have always lived within our means and we have had to tighten our belts even further in this last few months, and the package offered does now offer some light relief.

“We thank everyone at the National League for pursuing this on our behalf. Our commitment to our community and loyal supporters remains as strong as ever.”
