The Sentinel report that the National League are trying to get to the bottom of who owns Nuneaton Borough FC amid fears for the future of the club.

Port Vale owner and chairman Norman Smurthwaite bought Nuneaton’s Liberty Way ground after being approached by former Boro chairman Lee Thorn in the summer, but has said he doesn’t own the football club because that would break rules about dual ownership of clubs.

However, there is confusion about who does actually own the club after Thorn told the BBC that he has not been involved in the club since June and no longer owns Boro Leisure Limited, the club’s holding company.

The National League are asking Nuneaton to clarify the situation and will ask them for evidence as to who owns the club.
