Head coach Gary Owers says he has at least one new signing on board at Torquay United, but the deal won’t be announced until the player has completed a medical examination after the weekend.
Owers revealed: “Two players came down this week – one signed but hasn’t had his ‘medical’ yet, and one didn’t.
“I am a lot closer to tying up several signings, and we should have three or four medicals happening early next week.
“We are having much stricter medical testing than in the past – not just fitness issues, but general health and well-being – but holidays have meant that we have had to wait for them to happen.”
Owers confirmed that the goalkeeping position is one of his priorities, a clear indication that former Plymouth Argyle keeper Vincent Dorel will be leaving the club.
“I have plenty of options for goalkeepers and I need two, not just one,” he said.
