Colwyn Bay manager Phill Hadland should have new signing Danny Bartle and top scorer Scott Bakkor both available for Saturday’s away game at fifth-bottom Radcliffe Borough.
Bartle, who has signed after scoring 18 goals for North West Counties side Sandbach United this season, had a promising run out in the Seagulls 5-3 friendly win at Prescot Cables on Tuesday, and his international clearance came through today (Friday) to set up his league debut.
Ten-goal Bakkor missed Tuesday’s game and last weekend’s defeat to Ramsbottom with a knee injury, but the manager reported: “He has been responding to treatment. There has been some swelling, but I am hopeful he will be okay to return.”
That will provide the manager with a selection headache up front with recent signings Bartle and Julian Williams, who did well on his debut last weekend, increasing his attacking options as he looks to end an eight-match winless run in the league.
Matt Regan, Gaz Grant and Julian Williams all missed Tuesday’s friendly because they were carrying slight knocks, but all are expected to be involved on Saturday.
Radcliffe moved out of the bottom four on goal difference in midweek with a 1-1 draw at Kendal Town, to end a run of three successive defeats in which they had conceded nine goals.
Striker Raul Correia, who scored a late equaliser for Racliffe in their 2-2 draw at Colwyn Bay in October, has been on trial with Blackpool this week, but they still have a threat up front in Elliott Rokka who is among the division’s top eight goal scorers with 12.
