The ambition show by Wrexham on and off the pitch persuaded Adam Barton to make the switch to The Racecourse.

Centre midfielder Barton has penned a two-year deal with the Reds after leaving Dundee United.

The club has announced plans for a new Kop stand and with promotion again the objective in 2019-20 on the field of play, Barton admits joining Wrexham was an easy choice.

“I wasn’t really settled down and I was hoping to move on,” said Barton.

“I am glad it has happened and I am glad I am here.

“It is a very ambitious club. There is talk of the new stand being built, stadium, training ground being built, you know where the club want to go.

“It is not a case of just hanging in there, they want to keep pushing and pushing and even if we go up this season, next season we want to do it again and go up again.”
