The next Chesterfield manager will be backed to strengthen the current squad, chairman Mike Goodwin has said.
John Pemberton’s departure from the Spireites hotseat was confirmed yesterday, with John Dungworth taking caretaker charge.
As part of an update to Town supporters, Goodwin explained: “The recent appointment of Paul Lemon as our new chief scout is just part of a player recruitment strategy being put in place to provide the management team with vital support. We feel that this is of paramount importance to the long-term development of the club.
“Given the position we currently find ourselves in, supporters are naturally keen to learn what short-term measures are in place to improve matters. We can confirm that the new manager will be provided with the necessary funds to strengthen the squad, which is seen as a priority.”
