Chesterfield manager James Rowe says the signing of striker Danny Rowe is with the long-term in mind.

The ex-AFC Fylde star officially completed his move to the Spireites yesterday from Bradford City.

Having secured the 32-year-old for an undisclosed fee, manager Rowe explained in this morning’s press conference:

“It’s added some power up top. It isn’t just a short-term signing, he’s a long-term signing and he will be big for us.

“He has similar traits to Akwasi (Asante) and he can certainly create goals for himself.”

Agreeing that the former Oldham Athletic man is a coup for the National League promotion challengers, Rowe added:

“I’m so pleased he chose us. Stepping forward and deciding to come here shows the man he is.

“Bringing in a proven goalscorer shows our transfer strategy and where we are.”
