Dagenham & Redbridge have announced that defender Luke Pennell has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.

The defender, who can play as a centre-back and a left-back, signed for the Daggers in March 2016 after manager John Still learned of his availability following his trial at Norwich City.

He was previously on MK Dons’ books and had spells at Rushden & Diamonds and Banbury United before joining up with Dunstable at the beginning of the 2015/16 season.

The 20-year-old was linked with a move to Norwich in the 2015/16 season, where he had a trial, and was also scouted by a number of other Football League sides.

After signing for the Daggers in March 2016, Pennell made his debut the following month after replacing Justin Hoyte as a substitute in a 3-2 defeat away to Leyton Orient as the Daggers were relegated to the National League for the first time in nine years.
