Young Chesterfield midfielder Charlie Wakefield has signed a new contract, securing him to the club until the end of next season.
Wakefield, a product of the club’s academy, has not featured in the side this term after making a handful of appearances in the previous two seasons.
The 18-year-old does, however, figure in John Sheridan’s plans. The Spireites boss said: “He’s a player who’s got a lot of ability. He’s got a lot to learn but I think I can make him better by working with him.”
A clause in the contract gives the club an option to extend the deal.
