Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson have begun their rebuild of Chester’s squad with the signing of Matty Hughes from Chorley on a one-year deal.
The 25-year-old forward returns to the Deva after two loan spells with the club during the 2014/15 campaign where he made 26 appearances and scored four times.
In addition to signing Hughes, Morley and Johnson have also secured one-year deals for two first-team players.
Experienced midfielder Gary Roberts has agreed to stay with the club for another 12 months, while academy graduate Nathan Brown will also be staying with the Blues in National League North.
