Gateshead Football Club’s new owner Dr Ranjan Varghese has issued this statement following his takeover of the club on Wednesday.
“The last few months have been very hectic, and I’m now extremely happy and honoured to become the new Chairman and owner of Gateshead Football Club.
“I would like to personally thank Richard and Julie Bennett for all their assistance, professionalism, and support throughout the takeover process and also for the huge amount they have contributed to Gateshead Football Club under their tenure.
“Finally, I would like to thank all the coaches, players, staff and the Heed Army for their loyalty, patience and support over this period. We are now entering an exciting chapter for Gateshead Football Club and look forward to the future together.
“Though I am based in Hong Kong, I will visit the International Stadium on a regular basis and look forward to my first match. My background is in naval architecture and shipbuilding, and I have a great affinity for the River Tyne, and its former shipyards, that have built some of the world’s finest vessels.
“Now the hard work begins! All hands on deck, preparing for the new season, working closely with all club departments, and building our overall club vision, an exciting, progressive, long term vision that will lead to a successful, sustainable, fully engaged, community focused football club.”
