Hartlepool United’s Luke Williams is set for at least four weeks on the sidelines after a scan revealed he needs an operation on his knee.

The Pools star has not yet featured for the First Team since joining the Club last month and was sent for a scan on Friday which revealed damage to his medial ligament.

Matthew Bates confirmed the news in his post-match press conference following Saturday’s draw with Aldershot Town and expects the attacking midfielder to undergo surgery in the coming week.

“It’s not a major operation so we’re hopeful he could be back in around four weeks,” Bates explained.

“It’s obviously been frustrating for Luke but we’ll get the work done early next week and then make sure he comes back fitter and stronger.”
