Ramsbottom United manager Mark Fell is hailing new signing Nathan Webb as a “magician” after snapping up the former Accrington Stanley professional for the upcoming 2017-18 EVO-STIK League season.
Fell’s third summer signing for the EVO-STIK League North campaign, the 19-year-old enjoyed a brief loan spell at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium last season after making his professional debut for the League Two in the Checkatrade trophy against Crewe.
A versatile player who can play in an advanced midfield role, on either flank or up front as a striker, Webb was also played a major role the season before in the Accrington youth side who knocked West Ham United’s junior stars out of the FA Youth Cup.
Fell paid tribute to Webb with more signings on the way and the player likely to make his Rams when they host his former employers in pre-sesason on Tuesday 11 July.
The Rams boss told supporters: “Webby is a magician with the ball, he’s a great talent who will undoubtedly unlock defences in this division and he’s the sort of player who will benefit from playing a season at this level.
“He will be adjusting elements of his game to meet the rigors of Evo-Stik football and that will stand him in good stead to progress up the pyramid again.”
Admitting to keeping his cards close to his chest on new additions to his squad, he added: “we’ve purposely not released much information, there’s been at least two high profile cases of players committing to a club in this league then going somewhere else.
“So to that end we’ve sat on a lot of signings until this week. We’ve worked round the clock to get the targets I’ve wanted and I’m delighted with our progress in recruitment.”
