New Macclesfield Town signing Andy Haworth says he is looking forward to getting some football under his belt following the confirmation of his move from Barrow.
The winger agreed the deal at the end of last week and is now raring to go as Macclesfield look to move up the National League.
Speaking to mtfc.co.uk after sealing the transfer, Andy said: “It’s good to get it done and finalised and I’m looking forward to getting back to playing football now.
“I knew the interest of Macclesfield and John rang me up and offered me the option of playing week in, week out. Obviously, I haven’t been playing as much as I’d like for Barrow this season and that comes down to a number of things really. I didn’t get as much opportunity as I’d like so hopefully I can take this one now and get back to playing football.
In joining Macclesfield, Haworth has swapped one side hunting for a play-off spot for another, and he says he’s impressed with his new side’s ambition.
He added: “There’s only a couple of points difference between Barrow and Macclesfield. Both clubs have got ambition to be up there and get promotion so there’ll be good competition.
Andy took the chance to introduce himself to those who may not have seen him play before, describing himself as “quite an exciting sort of player! I like to take players on, get crosses in and hopefully chip in with a few goals. I want to play my part in helping the side get points on the board, whether that’s creating goals or scoring goals.”
He also added he was excited at the prospect of facing his former club with Macclesfield soon. “I’m looking forward to it!” He said. “Hopefully I can play in that one and hopefully we can get a win.”
